Have you ever been trapped in the "I'm not ready" cycle? It usually goes like this:

"I can't start doing XYZ NOW because I need to do ZYX FIRST."

For exemple:

"I can't start a Youtube channel NOW, because I need to buy the right equipment FIRST."

So you watch 1000 Youtube videos and read 1000 blog posts comparing filming gear, and you finally purchase "the right" equipment, after selling a kidney to be able to afford it. And then:

"I sill can't start my Youtube channel NOW, because I need to learn how to use my new equipment FIRST."

So you go on to purchase a course about filming with your brand new expensive equipment. And then:

"I can't start my Youtube channel NOW, because I need to learn how to edit videos FIRST."

Fast-forward to several months (sometimes years!) later: you've spent a consequential amount of money buying equipment and taking courses, but you still haven't published a single video on your Youtube channel, although you keep telling yourself that you're going to start soon... when you're ready.
Can you relate?

Well, let's all be honest with ourselves for a second, and admit that this is all B.S. Usually, the REAL reason why we don't start doing THE THING (whatever this THING is) is that we're scared. We're scared to fail, to disappoint, to be disappointed, to realize that we actually have no talent and nothing valuable to say. So we find very convenient excuses, the worst of them being "I'm not ready." And for some people, "I'm not ready" becomes a way of life.

But I'm here to tell you that you don't have to wait until you're ready to start doing your THING. First of all, because there's no such thing as "being ready". This is just a conspiracy from the Demon of Perfectionism. Don't be fooled by this vile creature disguised as a virtue, whose only goal is to hold you back for as long as possible. Perfectionism doesn't serve you. If you want to defeat this monster, there is only one way.

JUST START.
Start even if you don't feel ready.

Take action, even if it's messy and imperfect.

Take your first step, even if it's small and uncertain.

One of my favorite quotes is from Arthur Ashe, a famous tennis player known for being the first Black winner of a major men’s singles championship. It says:
"Start where you are. Use what you have. Do what you can."

Ask yourself: what can I do NOW to move forward?

If your THING is to make Youtube videos, you don't need an expensive camera. You can start filming today, using the camera from your smartphone, and upgrade your equipment later.
If your THING is to write and start a blog, you don't need to know how to build a Wordpress website. You can start writing on platforms like Medium or Substack, which are ready to use and don't require any technical skills.
If your THING is to start a business, you don't need a step-by-step five-year plan. You can take your first step today, move forward, and learn in the process.

You get the point.
JUST START NOW. That's the only plan you need. Once you start, amazing things will happen.
